Dr. Virat MS lives in Manduwadih. Pratyush Ranjan complained about the builder to DM and Manduwadih police. Also demanded the DM to conduct its safety audit. The police has asked for a certificate of lift servicing from the builder. The lift had collapsed in MS Virat Villa on Sunday morning. Two people were injured due to this.
After the complaint, the police called the builder and called him to the police station. However, the builder informed about being out. Sent two of his employees to Manduwadih police station. Police Station Head Bharat Upadhyay said that the builder has been bluntly told to submit proof of lift servicing documents. The builder said that he is out now and will show the papers as soon as he returns. On the other hand, in the complaint letter sent to the DM, the doctor has mentioned the entire incident and demanded an investigation.
Society or builder is responsible for lift maintenance.
As per rules, the responsibility of maintenance of lifts installed in big buildings rests with the society or the builder. Lifts are installed in 495 big buildings in the city. The companies that install the lifts maintain them every year. For this, there is a maintenance agreement with the lift companies on behalf of the builder if there is a proper building society or if there is no society. Lift companies keep checking it every two to three months. If there is any defect then it is repaired. Most of the buildings are handed over to the society while some buildings are under the supervision of the builders due to the society not being formed yet.
